10 Signs That He's a Keeper by Nicholas Aretakis, 2/01/2009
1 year, 5 months agoHe's a smooth talker, handsome, sexy, and fun to hang out with. Best of all, you have great chemistry. When he looks into your eyes and leans over to kiss you, you practically melt. This guy's a keeper, right? Not so fast. When guys are on the prowl, they have an uncanny ability to be charming and oh-so-romantic, say all the right things to woo you, and even do things they'll never do again once you're together--like cook dinner and bring you flowers.
Don't waste time going out with Mr. Wrong. If you want to know whether this guy's worth hanging on to--or itching for a ditching--take off those rose-colored glasses and check for these 10 signs that he's a keeper.
1. A seasoned heart. He's had at least one serious relationship. Even better, he and his ex are still on decent terms.
2. An achiever. He's employed and has reasonably developed career goals. If he's recently been laid off, how recently? How serious an effort is he making to find a new job?
3. A family guy. He has a good relationship with his parents and siblings. If there is friction, he can talk about his family issues rationally and reasonably.
4. A good friend. He has strong friendships. He has introduced you to some of his friends, and you like them.
5. A good listener. He asks perceptive questions about you and your life, and listens attentively to your answers.
6. An intellectual equal. He is as smart as you are, and gets your jokes and references.
7. A rock. He is reliable. He shows up when he says he will, and calls if he's going to be late. You feel as if you can really count on him.
8. A gentleman. He is considerate. He hasn't offended you, rushed you into sex, or been crude.
9. A seeker. He seems to know himself. He has self-confidence and an ability to analyze himself and examine his own behavior.
10. A potential life mate. He is committed to the relationship, monogamous, and seriously interested in seeing where this relationship can go.
