The Younger Man
I was financially set, owning an apartment in the city and a substantial inheritance. I am “full-figured” by American standards, and am drawn to “foreign guys”, where shapely women have more appeal. I am 7 years older than this handsome Moroccan fellow.
We were together for 9 years. He was a school teacher and spent his summers in Morocco, under family pressure to marry there and have children. I am not able to have children, but did everything I could to please him. He was carefree and irresponsible, enjoying time with his single friends, and dependent upon me to live the good life.
After hiring a coach, I made a list of characteristics that I desired in a man, and he didn’t even come close to matching them.
I finally forgave myself and made a departure, as he married a younger woman overseas and immediately had twins.
I now have much more self-confidence and am looking for a partner who will be a keeper, in a relationship where I don’t have to do all the work.
